Taking place on July 13, 2013, the 5th Annual LGTri, a sprint triathlon, and the 1st Annual LGTRI Kids Triathlon will be held in the scenic mountains of Colorado. These races honor the memory of Laura Genelin, who passed away in July 2008 from colon cancer. The LGTri helps keep Laura's passion for participating in triathlons alive in her hometown of Eagle, Colorado. The 1st Annual LG Kids Tri will hopefully instill the same passion in kids while allowing them to participate in an event that supports a local charity. Proceeds from the races will benefit the Vail Valley Charitable Fund, helping locals like Laura since 1996.
The LG Tri Sprint Triathlon consists of a 500 yard pool swim, followed by a 12 mile bike leg, and ends with a 5K run. the event is followed by awards, prizes and a silent auction. A beautiful mountain town 20 miles west of Vail, Eagle exists at an elevation of 6,600 feet above sea level. Click to see race course details and maps.
The LG Kids Tri Event will be divided into two age groups, 6 to 9 year olds and 10 to 13 year olds. Both groups will use the same course but the older kids will do extra laps that result in longer distances.
